Another One Bites the Dust
It's a sad time in my house right now. A good friend of mine has passed away. That's right, my Playstation 3 bit the dust.
It had a good life though, being one of the older consoles. It's hard drive may have only been 40GB, but it had a lot of heart and a lot of hours through countless games. It saw millions of bullets fired and bad guys eliminated; countless worlds saved and races won. It lived the high life.
Dark times loom ahead until a suitable replacement can be found. Games will gather dust and controllers will go unused. A dustless spot where the console once stood will slowly begin to gather dust now.
While the mighty quest for a replacement ensues, the Xbox 360 will rule the roost. Fare thee well SOCOM Friday Nights. Fare thee well.
So...who's up for some Borderlands 2?

Ratchet & Clank Collection - 2 Down, 1 To Go
Almost a year ago, I bought and started playing the Ratchet & Clank HD Collection on PS3. I stopped playing it, not because it wasn't "fun", but because I started playing other games in its place, namely Borderlands 2 and, of course, Minecraft. But, within the past few weeks, I picked it back up and continued playing through Going Commando. I finished it last night to 100% and got my Platinum Trophy.

Minecraft - New Survival World Castle
What I want to share today is a new world I started that I've become rather fond of. As usual, I started on pure Survival without cheats, but with the Bonus Chest. Right off the bat, I found an extreme hills biome with a great mountain that had a huge opening through it. Naturally, I had to climb to its peak and claim it as my own. From a simple dirt base in the side of the mountain, my castle began to take shape. This is where it stands currently.

Minecraft - Big Project (PC) - Hyrule from Link to the Past
But there is one project that I have been working on when I get a chance on Minecraft for the PC that I'd like to go ahead and share with everyone. Now, when you see it, you're probably going to say "But you already did that on the Xbox" which is partially true. But, with the power of the PC's version, as well as the extra block types and items, I've been able to do it so much better. Plus, being able to use external tools such as mcedit has made a huge difference. Add to that the customizable "Super Flat" levels, and I now have the foundation for my epic project.
I'm recreating the entire world of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Growing Up
Today's Penny Arcade comic did just that.
When you think of it in those terms, it's shocking and really puts things in perspective. I wonder how long it will be before I'm having a similar discussion with my girls when I break out my SNES or N64 for them to start playing with? I've already had to create a special world in Minecraft for my oldest to run around in. She likes playing Daddy's "block game". She's only 4 and it's already started.
At the same time, I wonder if she'll even be receptive to the older games once she gets a little more older? Especially after watching me play the newer games, will she be able to transition back to 2D or early 3D and have the same enjoyment I did?
I guess time will tell...
